When saving an M3U, it isn't actually formatted correctly, for instance so that it can be read by Winamp - is this intentional?

Can you please post the contents of one of these M3U files which do not play in Winamp?

That's what the program outputs as a M3U when choosing 'save desktop as'.

That's because a "desktop" is a "total config" of playlists - Not a simple M3U file.   You need to right-click the playlist, select Save As and then save to M3U file.
